Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SCS SB 837 -- TAX DELINQUENCIES OF PROFESSIONAL LICENSEES

SPONSOR: Caskey

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Tax Policy
by a vote of 17 to 1.

This substitute requires the Department of Revenue to notify,
within 10 business days, governmental entities that issue
professional licenses when tax delinquencies of a licensee have
been satisfied.

The substitute also changes from revocation of a license to
suspension of a license when professional licensees fail to pay
taxes.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will correct problems
that resulted from the passage of House Bill 600 last session
regarding the requirement for professional licensees to pay taxes
due.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Caskey.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
